“Our cemetery has been in existence since 1863. We have Itaro Kono, founder of the first dojo in America and one of P. T. Barnum's acts in the travelling circus; Peter Herdic, the inventor of the taxi cab and one of the richest lumbermen from the time when Williamsport had THE MOST millionaires per capita in THE ENTIRE WORLD! Almost all of these rich lumbermen are buried here. We have the founder of Lycoming County (William Hepburn), the founder of the oldest band in America (Daniel Repasz), and many more.
With over 55,000 burials and 20 miles of road, we have so much history and so many stones in need of repair. Learning how to do this for our community will allow family members to repair their stones, and for us to begin stone repairs in our cemetery. It will also allow our group of avid FindAGrave users fix stones in many of the local cemeteries they work with as well. Please consider us. We would be honored.“
