About Richmond Cemetery
(scroll for Google + Parking Maps)
Richmond Cemetery was officially founded in 1873. Previously an apple orchard, it was then sold as a burial ground. Richmond cemetery has some extensive history in the cemetery both locally and on a national level. It is the final resting place for Austin King; Missouri Governor and congressman, Charles Mansur; Mo Representative, Bob Ford and his brother Charlie; members of the notorious Jesse James gang. Bob is the man who shot and killed Jesse James in the back, and David Whitmer; A member of the Whitmer family, he was one of three witnesses to offer testimony regarding the translation of the Book of Mormon and to witness the engravings of the "golden plates."
