“First Parish Burial Ground (1644) is the earliest established Gloucester cemetery displaying in need of restoration for red sandstone, slate, marble, and granite gravestones plus above and below ground tombs. One below ground tomb in very good shape has been uncovered and opened.
This cemetery is the resting place for Gloucester's earliest settlers and founding families: sea captains, war veterans, merchants, widows, and children.
Located on Cape Ann, Gloucester celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2023. The city is part of the Essex National Heritage Area and Coastal Scenic Byway. As a visitor you will enjoy a lovely and lively seaport with recreational, culinary, and historic opportunities.
I can promise 48 State Tour ample local publicity in newspapers and other media outlets if they choose First Parish Burial Ground as a 2024 restoration site.”
