The Orchard Street Cemetery was founded in 1851 replacing an earlier town cemetery called the Morris Street Burying Yard and is the oldest cemetery in Dover. It was incorporated as the Dover Cemetery Association in 1854. The grounds include approximately 5.4 acres and includes an original 1875 gatehouse. There are 5 War of 1812 veterans and 54 Civil War veterans interred here along with many other veterans through to the Vietnam War. Also interred here are many early Dover, Port Oram (now Wharton), Randolph, Mine Hill, and Rockaway founders, civic leaders, and others.
