“Woodland is an African American cemetery founded in 1917.  It is about 30 acres in size and contains an estimated 30,000 burials.  We have located grave markers for just over 5,000 burials.  Arthur Ashe and other Richmond notables are buried in the cemetery.  A restoration of the cemetery was started in 2020 and continues to this day with mostly volunteer help.  More information can be found on our web site listed below.”
