Chestnut St Cemetery is a historical cemetery dating back to the 1800’s and draws many tourists in the area. It has beautiful artwork in its stones and ornamental ironwork. Chestnut Street is also home the oldest slate grave in Florida!

Chestnut Street cemetery was developed in the 1820s and is the final resting place for many of Apalachicola’s prominent citizens, including a botanist and steamer captains. It has classic Southern charm with the live oaks, Spanish moss, and exclusive Chapman oaks. It’s monuments include a zinc and a slate monument. The cemetery is an amazing example of the artistry of the time with numerous exquisitely carved marble and granite monuments.

The Cemetery committee will provide coffee and water, and restrooms are located at the Piggley Wiggley or downtown Apalachicola!
